What team will win the Super Bowl is the question many people are wondering around this time of year. With the game quickly approaching, our own diligent team at Southern Colorado Insurance Center wants to give you a few tips to help keep your game day party a safe and healthy one.

Here are some tips suggested by the Center for Disease Control to keep in mind when consuming food and alcohol:

Snacks

• Try to eat a variety of foods, including fruits and vegetables. These are easy to prepare and serve as a host and delicious to eat as a guest

• If you’re throwing a party, try to include a variety of snacks that fit with special diets or needs

• Dips can have a lot more calories than one may think so keep that in mind when choosing a snack dip
  

Alcohol

• Always make a plan! Have a designated driver before any party

• Don’t let your friends or yourself drink and drive! The local number for taxi service is really easy to remember, 777-7777

• Know when you’re friends have had enough. A lot of people assume that beer is different from other alcoholic drinks, but it can have the same effect.

If you are planning on tailgating and making your friends jealous by being close to the game, try to stay warm. Early February here in Colorado is not the warmest time of year. It’s never a bad idea to bring a jacket! Also keep in mind the outside temperature when you drink alcoholic drinks, because drinks with alcohol make your body lose heat quicker than other drinks.

Please remember to NEVER drive under the influence of alcohol. CSPD and Colorado State Patrol always increase DUI enforcement during the Super Bowl and drinking and driving is never safe for anyone. Please drive safe and always buckle your seatbelt!
