Insurance can be a complicated thing to figure out, especially if you are trying to do it on your own. We at Southern Colorado Insurance Center work to make things easier for you by finding you the best fitting policies for your situation and helping you with risk management to avoid a lot of those future surprises.
When we come across some tips or information that could help our clients, we share it with everyone right away. You have probably heard, “If anyone has any questions, ask it, someone is probably wondering the same thing.” This is why we share the helpful information we come across, because if it can help one, it can help others as well.
Here are some of the helpful tips we would like to share with you:
When it comes to insurance, learn from other peoples mistakes. Lightning can strike twice in the same spot, sometimes in the very literal sense of the phrase. Don’t think that because you or someone else went through something already, that it couldn’t happen again. Make sure you are fully covered and fully prepared.
Don’t window shop for vehicles. When looking to buy a vehicle, always make sure that you can afford it. We don’t mean just the monthly payments, but also consider the cost of insuring the vehicle and what maintenance would cost if something breaks. Finding exact numbers on these may be difficult but having an estimated idea is better than buying it blind.
Home insurance for Humpty Dumpty. The rule of thumb on home insurance is to insure the property for the value of a rebuild, not the value of the property itself. You don’t want to insure the egg, but for the cost it will take for all the king’s men to put it back together.
Whole or Term Life Insurance? Whole life insurance may not be for everyone but this is the policy that covers you (and your family) until your death. It is more expensive, but for some it may be worth it. Term Life insurance is a coverage for a certain amount of time, typically 30 years. It is less expensive than term but only lasts for the specified amount of time; in which case you would need to reapply after that time frame has lapsed.
